Sunday 4th February saw three of the LMR team out for the fifth and final round of the Batley Buggy Club Winter Series at MB Models near Leeds. A new, challenging, track configuration had been laid, and a great turnout of sixty 2wd buggies. In the U13s, Ben Simpson came into the day sitting 2nd in the series, after missing the first round, and suffering a mechanical issue in another.

Ben showed great pace with his Yokomo YZ-2 DTM and Yokomo electrics, being significantly quicker than the rest of the U13 field. Despite doing everything he could on the day, winning every heat and the final, the result was tied, and he ultimately had to settle for 2nd place on countback. Congratulations to Ewan Tumilty for taking the win.

Chris Foster had a frustrating qualifying, despite the car clearly being on pace and managed to secure 5th overall in the series. Despite a couple of driver errors and tangles with back markers, Chris still managed to make the A-Final. Starting from 8th, Chris managed to pull it back to 5th, after a great battle with Harry Brittain and Matt Dodd who took 3 rd and 4th respectively. Matthew Fox had a challenging day. He battled through the heats to start 6th in the C-Final, before having a decent run to finish 3rd.

Thank you to Batley Buggy Club and MB Models for a great series, and to Ben Talbot for the photos.

Bring on The Winter Series!

Made the short trip to MB Models today for a bit of club racing on EOS carpet. My Yokomo YZ-2DTM was fantastic as usual on the high traction carpet, so was all down to tyres and the driver.

Had a couple of fairly clean qualifying runs (2nd and 3rd) which would put me 3rd on the grid.

Jack Hirst would have a clean run from pole to take the win, myself and Harry Brittain would battle it out for 2nd with it all boiling down to how many mistakes we made.

In the end Harry kept it a little cleaner and I would settle for 3rd. Really fun bit of club racing today, bring on the winter series round 3 next week 😀
